Cheers to men’s health: Lifeview’s pop-up pub pulls a crowd

The beers were cold, the meat tray was up for grabs, and the pool table was never empty – Lifeview Willow Wood in Cranbourne West turned up the cheer for Men’s Health Week with its very own pop-up pub: The Watering Hole.
Built by staff and professionally kitted out for the day, the bar brought residents together to celebrate the theme of the week: being social and staying connected.
A taste of the local
Complete with Carlton Draught on tap (served in classic handled pots, of course), the bar had everything you’d expect at your local. Alongside beer, guests could sip on wine, Guinness, whiskey, soft drinks or fruit juice – and everyone who grabbed a drink received a raffle ticket for the traditional pub meat tray draw.
Burgers, bar games and a BBQ prize
The kitchen put on a proper counter meal selection, with chicken parmigiana the standout favourite among other classics like fish and chips, Angus beef pie, and even lamb’s fry and bacon.
The lucky winner of the meat tray, Russell, now gets to choose a day to invite mates over for a special barbecue – with staff cooking up the meat from the local butcher, of course.
Good banter, great trivia and a whole lot of laughs
A four-round pub trivia quiz kept things lively, with teams battling it out for bragging rights and boxes of chocolates. The champions? A crew of Willow Wood gents going by the name Rock Bottom Blues.
The space was decked out in pub-style décor – thanks to generous donations like Carlton Draught coasters from the Rosstown Hotel – and featured a relocated pool table, karaoke machine, and the footy and cricket on the TV.
A day to remember
From first pour to last song, the Watering Hole wasn’t just a novelty – it was a meaningful way to support men’s health through connection, camaraderie and community.
It’s safe to say the only thing missing was last call – and we’re betting it’ll be back on tap next year.
