Let’s see more aged care homes supporting Dance against Dementia
04/03/2026
Estia Health’s Victorian residential aged care homes are devotees of Dance Against Dementia which occurs annually in September's Dementia Awareness Month.
Many other residential aged care homes are too, and we encourage others to join in.
“Across our Victorian community, the energy was infectious. Residents lighting up as familiar songs played, families and employees dancing without hesitation, and memory support residents engaging in ways that remind us why these events matter,” Estia Health said.
“Every family navigating this journey deserves spaces where they feel understood, supported, and connected. Which is exactly what Umbrella Dementia Cafés provide – community hubs where people don’t just cope with dementia, they find friendship and knowledge.
“Together, through these joyful events, Estia Health proudly raised over $5,395.
“The funds we’ve raised for Umbrella Dementia Cafes will help expand these essential community spaces. As more families experience dementia diagnoses, the need for these welcoming spaces grows, and we’re proud to play our part in answering that call.”
Dance Against Dementia raised $23,488 last year and is aiming to raise $70,000 this year. It is a national fundraising event to raise more awareness about dementia and help Umbrella Dementia Cafes support more Australian dementia cafés.
