New activity bus for Numurkah aged care residents
Aged care residents in a northern Victorian town will have a new activity bus, with a fundraiser hitting its $90,000 target in just three months.
Numurkah Pioneers Memorial Lodge and Karinya Nursing Home in Numurkah, north of Shepparton, have raised enough to purchase an 11-seater bus for community events and activities, including internal renovations to support disability access.
The bus will also be used by community groups that support other isolated and aged people, said operator NCN Health.
“Rotary Club of Numurkah has contributed an incredible $25,000 toward the fundraiser and are working on obtaining further government and other grants.
“A huge thank you to the Rotary Club of Numurkah and the Numurkah community for your enthusiasm and support of this important initiative.”
Any additional funds raised will go towards purchasing disability equipment like walkers and wheelchairs for those using the bus.
