New aged care centre for the Kimberley

WA operator Juniper announces new aged care centre for the Kimberley
Kununurra in WA’s far north will be home to the new service hub, which will feature 32 aged care beds with a mix of single rooms with ensuites and two- and three-bedrooms with ensuites.
There will also be room for existing HACC and home care services that will be specifically adapted to the Kimberley conditions and the local indigenous culture, plus therapy and exercise areas.
“There is a strong need for residential aged care and community care support services in the region and this, coupled with a high level of confidence and investment in Kununurra, will bring positive economic activity and important infrastructure to the town and wider community,” Chief Executive Vaughan Harding said.
Currently, families and older people often have to move to Darwin or Perth for care and support.
A member of UnitingCare, Juniper is subsidising the development with help from the Federal Government, but is still looking for $11.5 million in grants to get the project underway.
They hope the centre will be completed by the end of 2017.
