Picture this: art therapy pieces find a home at Regis Rosebud
A new gallery room at Regis Rosebud aged care home in Capel Sound, Victoria, is giving residents a place to display their handiwork from art therapy.
Spearheaded by Lifestyle Coordinator Patsy and counsellor Sandy, the fortnightly art therapy sessions are interspersed with activities such as “Paint and Sip”, where residents paint on canvases or their own mugs while enjoying tea, coffee, wine, or other drinks.
According to Regis, art therapy has entered the calendars of its homes around the country, and is an excellent way to provide a creative outlet.
“Art therapy is a valuable way for residents to feel comfortable expressing their emotions through a creative avenue. It is another outlet that allows residents to show how they feel without using words, as it is a safe and welcoming environment.
