Well-earned rest for Judith after 21 years teaching ChiBall at Resthaven Paradise
80-year-old Judith Mackenzie has hung up her sneakers after 21 years teaching ChiBall and fitness classes to residents at Resthaven Paradise and Eastern Community Services in South Australia.
Judith, who began teaching ChiBall every week in 2001 after retiring as a high school teacher, blends Tai Chi-Qi Gong, dance, yoga, Pilates, relaxation, and meditation in her classes, which she still runs at Campbelltown Community Centre on Mondays and Fridays.
“As a ChiBall teacher and Master Trainer, I’ve dedicated much of my later life to promoting the importance of health and wellbeing.
“Now that I’ve just turned 80, it’s the right time to focus more on my family and my interest in art,” she said.
“As we get older, it becomes more difficult to feel pleasure in movement. So, it was very important for me to change the mindset of older people by promoting ease of movement, and the sense of being graceful,” she said.
