Video Transcript Step 6 - Aged Care Operators
Did you know there are nearly 3000 aged care homes across Australia?
They are large and small, old and new, and owned by close to 800 different operators.
Many are run by not for profit church and charity groups and many are operated by small family businesses up to large public companies.
They all have a mix of homes, from the older style to new high rise models.
All operators receive a large part of their funding from the government, which means they all have to comply with the same set standards.
Have you got a preferred operator? If so, remember you’ll be restricted by their locations. It’s best to search Agedcare101 for the locations and services you want then do your homework on the operator. This is important because they’ll be responsible for your medical and emotional care, entering a joint journey of support and trust – let alone legal and financial contracts.
Our advice is that the design of the home is far less important than the operator’s management. It’s the home’s leadership that dictates the quality of care, so don’t be afraid to ask lots of questions.
Invest the time to understand all the issues laid out here at agedcare101, where aged care is made easy.
