Why consider aged care in North Western

The North Western region of NSW is served by the Western NSW Health District, with a network of hospitals, clinics and other centres delivering health services and support to residents, communities, nursing homes and aged care facilities. It covers townships from Condobolin through Gilgandra to Wee Waa, and west to Cobar, Bourke and Walgett. While popularly depicted as remote and desert fringe, North Western NSW is actually strong in agricultural and mining industries, with a popular and growing tourism sector. As such, influxes of seasonal and casual workers, and national and international visitors, add numbers to the area’s permanent population.

  • Summer average temps 20°C min to 35°C max
  • Winter average temps 5°C min to 20°C max
  • Nearest large hospital – Small (less than 50 bed) hospitals in centres such as Bourke and Cobar with 24 hour emergency. Neighbouring Orange Hospital has broader capacity
  • Many therapies as well as specialists and support services in more populated centres with telehealth appointments often available. Royal Flying Doctor Service covers many locations. Public health via Western NSW Local Health District.
