What is the Basic Fee? 4.2

The Basic Fee

To receive a government subsidy, you have to make a co-payment.  Everyone receiving a Home Care Package, no matter the level, must pay the basic fee, which is set at 17.5% of a single person aged pension rate.

The basic fee a provider may charge for a Home Care Package is $10.32 per day or up to $144.48 per person per fortnight (from 20 March 2018 to 19 September 2018). This rate increases in March and September each year in line with changes to the Age Pension. This applies to each person receiving a Home Care Package, even if you are a member of a couple.

The Basic Daily Fee can also be referred to as a 'care recipient contribution' a 'care recipient fee' or a 'consumer fee'.
