Fees to be paid
Under Support at Home you will pay for the services you receive. The amount you pay will depend on your income and assets.
Your provider will put aside 10% of your quarterly budget for care management, which is pooled together with the care management fees paid by the provider's other customers. This is because sometimes you may require a lot of care management services, while some quarters you may need very little. The cost of the administration and delivery of your package for example transport, is factored into Support at Home service pricing.
Your contributions won't change under Support at Home, even if you are reassessed. Under Support at Home there is a 'no worse off' policy, which means you will only be charged equal or lower fees than on the Home Care Package Program.
I have a question. I've heard the fees we pay for in-home care are changing. I was receiving a Home Care Package. How will my fees change?
If you had a Home Care Package you will be given a Support at Home budget that aligns with your Home Care Package. Your contributions won't change under Support at Home even if you are reassessed. Under Support at Home there is a 'no worse off' policy, which means you will only be charged equal or lower fees than on the Home Care Package Program.

While there is a ‘no worse off’ principal, it only applies with limited scope, and in practice may not be the case. Providers have generally increased their fees (which is an essential element of the program for providers to maintain their margins), which means consumers might have to pay more to receive the same level of services. This has been a common problem with the reforms.
