Fee Structure of Support at Home
After you are assessed, you will receive a support plan. This will include your service classification 1 to 8 and a list of services you have been approved for. You will also be informed if you have been approved for short term supports, such as restorative care, palliative care, home modifications or assistive technology.
Once you receive your funding allocation, you will be notified by letter. You can then find a service provider and you will enter into a service agreement and complete an income and assets assessment. Then you are ready to create a care plan with your provider and set out a budget.
You will receive your funding quarterly.
Services Australia will manage your funding. Providers claim for services provided through Services Australia after the services have been delivered.
The contribution you pay will be based on:
- Services you receive
- If you receive the pension and how much you receive
- If you are a Commonwealth Seniors Health Card holder
There are three types of support and that will determine how much you pay.
- Clinical care, such as nursing, physiotherapy, and continence care
- Independence, such as help getting dressed and showering
- Everyday living such as cleaning and gardening
You do not pay for clinical care as this is funded by the government.
Full Pensioners
Full pensioners will pay 5% of their service price for independence support and 17.5% of the service price for everyday living support.
Part Pensioners and Self-funded with Commonwealth Seniors Health Care
Part pensioners and self-funded retirees who are entitled for a Commonwealth Seniors Health Care:
- Will pay between 5% and 50% of the service price depending on their circumstances.
- Will pay between 17.5% and 80% of the service fee for everyday living support.
Self-Funded Retirees
Self-funded retirees will pay 50% of the service fee for independence support and 80% of the service fee for everyday living support.

Providers are able to set their own fees until 30th June 2026. After then, the government will cap prices.
